Pharmacological properties of St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum). The third report: The comparative estimation of gastroprotective properties Hypericum perforatum and Hypericum quandrangulum

The antidestructive, gastroprotective activity of Hypericum perforatum and H. quandrangulum herbal infusions was compared with such activity of Panax ginseng root’s dealcoholizated tincture. All plant drugs were introducted enteraly preventively during 7 days. Methods of pylorus ligated rats (Shay rats) and mise immobilisation or injection of reserpine were used. Both Hypericum infusions demonstrated distinct antidestructive activity, which may be compared with strong activity of Panax ginseng.These results illustrated the ability of Hypericum infusions to cause the state nonspecific high resistance (SNHR) of organism and their antidestractive action. The one of the main characteristic SNHR is limitation size and heaviness destructions.The rightfulness of wide using Hypericum species in folk and traditional medicines as a prophilactic drugs has experimental confirmation.References
