Abstract

Aim. To analyze and summarize publications in the field of application of electrical transcutaneous stimulation of acupuncture points in post-stroke rehabilitation for disorders of certain functions of the musculoskeletal system, to evaluate the effectiveness, safety and characteristics of the therapeutic effect.
Methods. A review of publications in Russian and foreign electronic libraries for the period from 1990 to 2024, with a selection of original articles and research results published in peer-reviewed journals devoted to the results of the use of non-invasive (transcutaneous) electrical stimulation of acupuncture points in post-stroke rehabilitation for musculoskeletal disorders in randomized studies with control groups.
Results. The studies included in the review show the effect of reducing spasticity, improving motor activity, and reducing the coefficient of joint contraction of antagonist muscles after electrical transcutaneous stimulation of acupuncture points in post-stroke rehabilitation for disorders of certain functions of the musculoskeletal system.
Conclusion. Transcutaneous (non-invasive) electrical stimulation of acupuncture points can be an effective and safe mean of post-stroke rehabilitation for disorders of certain functions of the musculoskeletal system.
