Aim. To analyze and summarize research publications concerning the use of electrical transcutaneous stimulation of acupuncture points in the treatment of insomnia, to evaluate the effectiveness, safety and characteristics of the therapeutic effect.
Methods. Review of publications in Russian and foreign electronic libraries for the period from 2000 to 2025, with a selection of original articles and research results published in peer-reviewed journals devoted to the results of the use of non-invasive (transcutaneous) electrical stimulation of acupuncture points in the treatment of insomnia in randomized study conditions including those with control groups.
Results. According to the studies included in the review, non invasive transcutaneous electrical stimulation of acupuncture points produces statistically significant improvements in sleep quality among individuals with insomnia.
Conclusion. Non-invasive transcutaneous electrical stimulation of acupuncture points represents a safe and effective therapeutic option for insomnia management.
